As part of the Summer University for High School Students at STU, high school students visited on Friday (September, 9) also IAM, where they learned more about automation and process control in the chemical and food industry.
On September 5-7, we organized an annual meeting IAM in Trencin, Slovakia.
On August 31, IAM organized a scientific seminar on "Differentiable Programming for Modeling and Control of Energy Systems". The scientific seminar was led by our alumni Dr. Ján Drgoňa (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, USA).
We are authors of a new paper in the prestigious international scientific journal Computers & Chemical Engineering:
The paper presents a nearly-optimal control suitable for implementation on the embedded hardware with limited energy resources. The publisher Elsevier provides open access to new research articles for 50 days to help share the current results.
Dr. Martin Klaučo and Karol Kiš participated in the 18th IFAC Workshop on Control Applications of Optimization, which took place at Centrale Supélec, Paris-Saclay University on July, 18-22. Karol Kiš gave a lecture on:
and Dr. Martin Klaučo was the chairman of the session: Optimization-Based Applications.
On July 26, 2022, a workshop was held in room NB641 in cooperation with prof. Y. Shardt from TU Ilmenau. Two lectures were given. The workshop was open to all participants.
Habilitation lecture and defence of the habilitation thesis Ing. Martin Klaučo. PhD. took place on July 1, 2022.
Together with our colleagues from ShanghaiTech University, China and Automatic Control Laboratory, EPFL, Switzerland, we published a new research paper in the international scientific journal IEEE Control Systems Letters:
The paper presents a distributed MPC design method for systems with input and state constraints. The illustrative case study demonstrates the significant reduction of the runtimes necessary to solve the optimization problem compared to the conventional MPC design approach.
On June 24, IAM took a part in the CHEMSHOW - Open Door Day at the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology STU in Bratislava.
